Ministry to Children on the Lower West

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."  ~ Mathew 19:14.

Rev. Rob will be starting book 2 in the C.S. Lewis, Narnia series "The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe", this Wednesday , October 19, 2016  at St. Pat’s School.

WHL -Westside Hockey League begins Thursday October 20, 2016 for six weeks and then will pause for Christmas break and start up again in late January.

Perhaps most exciting, Evan Smith’s after school Nature Club begins November 1, 2016 and will be held every two weeks (with thanks to Heather Masson for helping to get this project off the ground)!

Vacation Bible School (VBS) returns this year August 8th through 12th from 9:30—11:30 a.m.  VBS is a fun-filled program offered for children between the ages of 5—12.  It is a way for us to connect with the children and families in our community, bringing in children who don’t normally attend church and to teaching them the gospel, and helping us to fulfill the Great Commission.  If you feel called to assist in this outreach ministry, there will be a meeting announced in the near future.  Please speak to Heather or Dawn Masson, or Rev. Rob for more info.

St. Pat’s School Ministry

Rev. Rob read The Magicians Nephew (part of the Narnia Chronicles) to some St. Pat’s grade 4  students Thursday afternoons in the Spring of 2016.  He really made an impact with the youth in the community, and hopes to be invited back to read to the children in the new school year.

Floor Hockey

Rev. Rob alongside Krista Turnbull with PALS started an afterschool floor hockey club from the gymnasium of the Carleton Kirk in the spring of 2016.  The first group went through late winter/ early spring and had a great time!  The second group of floor hockey participants finish their final game Thursday, June 9, 2016.  This will wrap up the afterschool program for this term but it was such a success we pray it will resume in the new school year.  If you feel called to help, you could do so by making refreshments, passing out treats, supervision or even playing a round or two.

Sunday school announcements

saturday, december 6, 2014

We would like to invite you to 2 events happening in a couple of weeks.  The first one is on Saturday, Dec 6th from 2:00 p.m. – 4:15 p.m.  We are going to be having fun playing games, making a craft of two, and dressing up in the church hall.  Why?  Our plan is to create a video of the Christmas Story that we can share with our congregation on Sunday, December 21st at our 10:30 service.  You and any one you would like to bring are invited to come, hear the Christmas Story in words, fun music, and of course, pictures and videos starring you!

Sunday, December 7, 2014

Then on Sunday, December 7th, you are invited to meet us at the church between 2 and 2:15 to go to a Sea Dogs game at Harbour Station.  We will be looking for some help with drives but should be able to take everyone over to the game and return them back to the church (or even home) afterwards.  No money is needed – we have the tickets and a few refreshments for everyone.  All we need is you!

If you have any questions, please ask anyone of our Sunday School Teachers or David.  We hope to see you at the church.  If going to the hockey game, please get a permission slip from the office and have it completed by a legal guardian and bring it with you on game day.

Our Community

Saint John West is a priority neighboorhood.  With our eyes towards Jesus, WAM tries to be an outreach based group.  We want to offer a safe place for our community to reach out to us for all their needs.  Each Sunday at 4:30  we put on a wonderful  community meal called our George's café.  We also endevour to maintain adaquate supplies for our EMERGENCY food program, which we have named "Howards Pantry". Check out all the latest news and events from our community.

We welcome everyone to our worship service in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

All are welcome to Holy Communion. We extend a special welcome to visitors and those new to our parish.

You are all invited to participate in the Holy Eucharist.
